Yeah…..you tell’em Dusty!!
And the correct choice of tyres 😅
Awesome. Thanks Guys!!!
First of all a pavement is where pedestrians walk at the side of a road. Off road is unsurfaced, it may range from a dirt track or logging road as is mentioned, to never seen a tyre in its life tracks.
Those are my stomping grounds. Great video btw
Rolling mount is pretty much the only way to keep in line with dynamic traffic for people under 5ft so it's a really, really, really useful thing to learn.
Very awesome vid class, thank you so much bro 😂
Dusty's having a Joe Biden moment
i built my skills fall by fall 🙂and i hate full rock roads
free wheeling uturns are wild
That way you can have a beer in each hand 😂
For the Drummer 😂 hilarious
Dusty: I'm enjoying your videos. And congrat's on your company. I had to check with jjustj to be sure you were the same "Dusty" I met at the Four Mile Freakout rides and J's birthday party. Best wishes for you and your business and keep your feet on the handlebars for those subtle inputs. Thanks, Hannda
Yeah this very misleading and very downplayed. Typical if big bile ADV guys. So define "most"? where you riding that is free if hills sand and mud lol Dusty your musleading people
It's so easy to just say no. I think the confidence comes from just accepting you might drop the bike and cracking on with it. Thanks for inspiring me ❤
Dirt or gravel roads are not offroad, as hinted by the "road" in the name.
from my modest point of view here from South America, I feel that (almost) all drivers went nuts sonehow after the lockdown. Recently a lady from Germany shared a similar experience. This, imo gives an idea of how fast we bikers should be driving. Thanks for the video!
A couple weeks ago, I came around a blind corner on a dirt road and suddenly found myself staring at the side of a pickup truck, about 20' in front of me. I was on the right and the road was plenty wide for a truck and a motorcycle to pass. However, he had been parked off the left (i.e. 'wrong') side of the road and happened to be pulling out _just_ as I rounded the corner. I was able to slow down just enough to clear his tailgate, but had he been stationary or jammed the brakes on seeing me, I'm only about 70% confident I could have stopped in time and stayed upright. Definite pucker factor. Glad I wasn't going faster. I've ridden this road a dozen times and I rarely pass more than one or two vehicles (often none) so it's all too easy to become complacent. Careful out there!
Can you give me an idea of the total weight for all that?
😂 😂😂
I've done that in deep water.😂
Good message bro. And I love my KLX230!
Thanks for the tips.
Where do you put you tent, food, and sleeping bag?
Anakin Skywalker hates this video.
You can practice in your backyard with logs, 4x4s, or even start with 2x4s. I hated ruts, but now it is more of a general disdain. I still hate downhill ruts due to the addition of sliding.
Suspension travel is the key! If you have enough. Go as fast as you can, when you bottom out, dont slow down....
Narrow tyre in deep sand ?
If you wouldn't want to drive a Camry on it, it's off-road.
Best lighwieght set up I have seen. Tool kit is on point very similar to my set up but I like to cook more so pack a few other comforts along and riding a lot in either coastal rainforest or desert I carry a siltarp for sun/rain protection over the bike and to the tent or a buddies bike works for emergency set up of the tarp as well. Those knipex wrench pliers are awesome.
the moment i have hesitations about reading the terrain in front of me means I am going too fast. adventure bikes need a lot more pre-planning than enduro bikes, speed adjusted accordingly.
Hi. GPS unit - probably the only thing you didnt mention in the pack list :) if possible, please share which model are you using. Thanks!
who all came here after shumi guide on International touring ?
Thanks for the great tips. Did a little offroad with a downhill situation this morning. From now on, my strategy is looking far ahead, planning where to land it, clutch in and slight break pressure, or 1st gear engine brake. Don't panic and grab the breaks, especially the front one.
I’m on a similar KTM, a 450 not a 500, and would love to get my tool kit reduced. Can’t wait to see the detailed list Paul. I need your help 😉Wishing you good health mate.
I keep my sag set light, so I have more weight on my front instead of rear. Front end sticks a lot better on dirt/gravel. Also, I only ride playful fast. My fun is out exploring, not racing.
Might want to define the size of the ride as part of the mission. Big difference between that big supertanker ADV/dual sport in this video and something the size of a WR250R or similar 250cc - 450 cc bike doing the same rides. I'm in the small bikes group doing dual sport/ADV rides here in the mountains of the Continental Divide in NW Montana/Idaho and SE British Columbia and SW Alberta. Very little mud and sand in this environment, but a lot of hard packed dirt roads and forest service roads that have layers of built up gravel in the corners that the front tire has to deal with.
Would like to see your protective gear setup including body armor, pants, helmet, gloves, shades, etc.
Great pointer if you are on single track and don’t have a choice but to stay in it. But out in the desert like you were is it ok to just get out of the rut and ride the flat surface on either side?
My kinda peeps!
That rear brake on a hill/in the Alps is so important. Because the front brake will not hold your and the bike's weight, the front tyre skipping backwards and you desperately trying to apply more brake pressure which will change - nothing. Guess why I know ;-) Cheers from Nürnberg, Günter
I’ll do it 🤣🤣🤣
Really concise. Congrats!
With these big, heavy, expensive bikes, I have discovered that I am not interested in riding off road with less than 50/50 tires. The bike doesn't respond like I'd need, and isn't safe at my speed. Good tires save me from having to pack so many changes of shorts. ;-)
What I always try to remember when I'm riding fast is "slow TF down". Source: 39 years of riding 😊 here's to 39 more 🤜🏾🤛🏼
Wanna see that.
